Legal History

Ms. Sreemoyee Sarkar is currently Teaching Assistant (TA) in the area of Legal History. She has been associated with National University of Study and Research in Law for three and half years. She has also served Vidyasagar College, Kolkata, affiliated to University of Calcutta as a Guest Faculty for two and half years and has worked under Ministry of Education, Singapore for almost three years. Her area of research interest includes Maritime History of Indian Ocean and South East Asia, Sea-borne Piracy, Development of Legal Institutions in India and Social History of Science and Technology, ASEAN, Gender Studies, Subaltern and Postmodern Discourse. She has nine publications to her credit, which have been published in UGC indexed journals and refereed journals. Her doctoral work is on the area of Maritime Crimes in the Indo-Pacific region in the Post-Coldwar period. She has done a workshop on “Research Methods in International Relations and Other Social Sciences”, School of International Relations and Strategic Studies, Jadavpur University (SIRSS), in collaboration with Jadavpur Association of International Relations (JAIR), Kolkata and Indian Council of Social Science Research, Eastern Region Centre (ICSSR-ERC) and participated in a workshop on “Teaching Civics and Moral Education”, Curriculum Planning and Development Division, Ministry of Education, Singapore. She has attended some diploma courses including a Diploma Course cum Workshop in Science and Technology in Archaeological Study and Preservation, Adult and Continuing Education Department, Jadavpur University, a Diploma Course in Social Work and Community Service, National Council of Education, Bengal, Kolkata, which included different Workshops and hands on Projects at different NGOs like IPER, SILENCE etc. related to non-formal education of the street children, rehabilitation of the drug addicts and senior citizens at Old Age Homes and a Diploma Course cum Workshop on Ancient Ceramics, Center Of Archaeological Studies & Training (Eastern Region), Camac Street, Kolkata.
